Councilor Gail Merritt
Gail Merritt was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and graduated from Beaverton High School. She attended Oregon State University and met her future husband, Greg Merritt, an agricultural student from Prineville. Gail moved to Crook County in 1969.
Gail was the bookkeeper and co-owner of several farm operations and taught dance at High Desert Dance Arts for thirty years. In 2005, Gail retired from farming and moved into the city limits.
Gail was appointed to the Prineville City Council in 2011. In addition, she serves on the Crook County Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee and is on the Picnic in the Park Committee. Gail also serves as chairperson for the Crook County Fair Board and is the President of Christmas in the Pines. She enjoys volunteering at Barnes Butte Elementary School and participating in her grandchildren's activities.
Gail has three daughter: Marilee, Becky and Jennifer and seven grandchildren.
